Eamonn Holmes has proposed to his long-term girlfriend Ruth Langsford who was seen wearing her new engagement ring for the first time on today’s edition of This Morning and the couple announced the news on the show too.

Guest Hannah Spearritt let the secret slip by saying congratulations to the couple and Eamonn read out communications from viewers who’d spotted the ring on Ruth’s finger…

Eamon told viewers: “A lot of people think we’e married already.” And an emotional Ruth added: “Thanks for noticing. We got engaged on my birthday last week.”

After showing viewers a congratulations card the This Morning crew had made for the couple, she added: “My little heart’s going like that now. Like the first time I saw you.”
