In an interview with Ladies’ Home Journal, singer and American Idol judge Paula Abdul has revealed that she once had such an addiction to painkillers, it nearly killed her.

It seems that during dance routines back in her days as a full-time singer, Paula took a combination of painkillers, including “regular shots of lidocaine” as well as what she describes as “Chinese medicine” to get her through her dance routines.

“I couldn’t cancel my tour. I didn’t want anyone to count me out” she told the magazine, adding, “I tried to keep everything hush-hush.

“I’m an old school professional. Never let them see you sweat.”

According to the Daily Mirror, Simon Cowell admits that he can’t keep up his hectic workload for much longer.

“I don’t want to come over as whiney because I am very grateful that I have got these jobs,” he told the paper, adding, “But there is a point where I am not sure we can keep this schedule up.

“It takes longer and longer to make these shows because you have to put more into them, and I am not sure we can sustain me doing three shows a year, with the record label and the TV production company.

Music mogul Simon Cowell reportedly wants Britney Spears to be a mentor for the contestants in the new series of American Idol, despite her highly recent rather pants appearance on the X Factor.
